Goals

BirdWatch’s overarching goals are:

– to improve the farmland bird habitat suitability and thereby agricultural biodiversity

– to support sustainable agricultural practices and their reporting

– to support the compliance monitoring of international, national and regional guidelines, such as the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy

– to improve and preserve the health of the ecosystems on farmland in the EU

As BirdWatch aims to evaluate the current state of an area of interest, to identify its changes over time and to provide recommendations for the most appropriate greening measures, the platform can become an integral, data-and evidence-based monitoring tool, e.g. for the administrations and policy-makers. With BirdWatch, argumentation, claims and decisions can be substantiated by actual measures.
